Background
Why is there a QR code on our packaging?
The EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation requires manufacturers to make certain packaging labelling information available digitally. BolusCare therefore prints a QR code on all packaging that leads directly to this page, where you can find the material composition, recyclability, and the full declaration of conformity for our packaging.

The EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) at a glance
Regulation (EU) 2025/40 on packaging and packaging waste (PPWR) was adopted in December 2024 and entered into force on 12 February 2025. It applies directly and uniformly across all EU member states from 12 August 2026, replacing the previous Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive 94/62/EC.
The PPWR aims to reduce packaging volumes across the EU, make all packaging recyclable by 2030, and limit the use of hazardous substances in packaging materials. For manufacturers, this brings obligations relating to labelling, evidence of recyclability, and providing an EU declaration of conformity under Annex VIII of the Regulation.
Material safety
PFAS and the absence of harmful substances in our packaging
BolusCare's folding cartons are made from board supplied by Stora Enso. According to their written confirmation, no per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), including PFOA and PFOS, are intentionally added during board manufacturing. Our packaging is made from 100% virgin fibre with no plastic content.
From 12 August 2026, the PPWR sets PFAS concentration limits for food-contact packaging: 25 ppb for any single PFAS substance, 250 ppb for the sum of all PFAS, and 50 ppm for PFAS including polymeric compounds. In addition, an EU-wide ban on PFHxA-related substances in paper and board food-contact packaging applies from 10 October 2026 (Regulation (EU) 2024/2462). BolusCare is not a food-contact product, so these limits do not directly apply to us — but we meet them anyway as a precaution, via our supplier.
Our board supplier is also registered under the REACH Regulation ((EC) No 1907/2006) and meets the SCIP database notification obligations for substances of very high concern (SVHC) above 0.1% by weight.
